There are many kinds of cancer which begins when the cell in part of the body start to growth out of control. As we know that breast cancer is the second leading cause death in women, following by lung cancer. The diseases not only fall on women, for men also have the same issue. Men generally at low risk which is less than 1 percent while for women there are 90% of them death cause by this.
In order to create the awareness in this area, education and knowledge in this area is very important which can provide women more sensitivity about this. For example risk factors, ways to prevent, what kind of treatment and how to detect early.
There are different kinds of risk factors such as gender, age, family history, alcohol, smoking and etc. At this time, there is no guaranteed way to prevent it but what women can do is lowering the risk by changing those risk factors that can be changed, for example limit alcohol use, exercise regularly to reduce the risk for such issue happened. The main cause of the death among women is only cancer. The exact cause of the cancer is yet unknown. Usually it is diagnosed by the formation of lumps but it is not necessary that every lump may be cancerous only. Even the symptoms of the cancer are also not very clear. Usually there are no symptoms in the early breast cancer. But the look and the feel of the breast changes as there is a growth in the tumor. Some common changes include -
1. There is a lump or thickening in underarm area or near the breast.
2. There is a change in the shape or size of the breast.
3. The direction of the nipple turns inward in the breast.
4. Some discharge of fluid from the nipple. If the discharge is bloody then it is more risky.
5. Dimpling or puckering in the skin of the breast.
6. The skin on the breast becomes red, scaly or swollen skin. These symptoms may even appear on the nipple or areola (dark area of skin at the center of the breast).
If any person is suffering from any of these symptoms then he or she may immediately contact to an expert of cancer so that the problem can be diagnosed and treated properly ion time. Continue reading ‘Information on Breast Cancer Symptoms and Diagnosis’ »

Each October, wherever you go you see pink ribbons. This month has been designated as the Month of sensitization to breast cancer. Some companies use this month to pledge financial support to the cause and the sale of roses. But wait, before you go to get their pink color, maybe you should do some checking to see how this money is given is used for research and uses it to give people information on cancer breast.
In my opinion, is much more important to have a good level of knowledge about breast cancer and be aware of when you should have a mammogram. Breast cancer is better to stop before it’s too late, because if caught early, treatment is more likely to succeed. Although you can find information about breast cancer on the Internet at any time there is an increased effort in October for information on breast cancer for women and keep them informed about the options available, because they need not be a death sentence. There are even cases where the cancer was treated at a later stage. Continue reading ‘Information on Breast Cancer’ »

According to a number of medical professionals, their studies seem to indicate that breast cancer is the most prominent form of cancer in women in today’s world, proving to be second only to non-melanoma skin cancers. It is also the second leading form of cancer responsible for the number of cancer caused deaths in women.
Medical professionals have reported that their studies have shown that 1.3 million women are diagnosed on the average with breast cancer each year and on the average, one third of these women die from this affliction.
These medical professionals feel that their research has shown that while diet and proper exercise cannot prevent breast cancer in all cases, it does seem to lower the odds, which makes these methods both good offensive weapon against the onset of cancer and therefore ones well worth applying. Cancer, the most dreaded word after AIDS. Yes. It’s true. We all want to stay away from it, as far as possible. We don’t want to touch it even with a ten foot pole. God forbid, if any one is diagnosed or even asked to go for a biopsy, life becomes hell (till cleared). Forget about the treatment–which is not conclusive even in this age–it does more damage than treat. The side effects give more publicity than the disease itself: patches on open skin, bulges on or near treatment area, rapidly losing hair leading to baldness, fearful eyes, changed overall behavior and what not! The unlucky one needs to live with it.
I think its enough description. But I had to put it. Because only then I could emphasize how you can possibly avoid it. I use the word “possibly” because nothing in this world is foolproof. But then there are two foolproof things: one that we can not go away from “the moment of truth” and the other one we are going away from: nature. That’s the first tip: stay closer to nature. Breast Cancer is the cancer that develops in the breast tissues mostly in the inner lining of milk ducts or in the lobules which supply milk to the ducts. Depending on the place of origination, they are known as ductal carcinoma, if originated in the milk ducts or lobular carcinoma when originated in the lobules. Breast cancers are also classified as hormone-positive or a hormone-negative cancer which is decided based on their sensitivity to hormones like progesterone and estrogen.
The options available for breast cancer treatment depend on the type of breast cancer and the staging results. Staging is the process in which the disease spread and its progressive extend is determined. Though it is the most common non-skin type of cancer in women and is considered one of the fatal types of cancer, there are many advanced breast cancer treatment options which can help cure this disease if detected early.
Breast Cancer Treatment Plan
Once the cancer has been diagnosed, the doctors evaluate the pathology report and form a plan that would suit the type of cancer and the stage to which the disease has progressed. Treatment modes aim at reducing the spread of the disease, destruction of the diseased cells and reduction of chances for re-occurrence in future. The doctors would choose a single or a set of treatment options based on the patient’s medical conditions which they may evaluate periodically. My first time through breast cancer the highways of treatment over which I traveled were the typical “cut, poison, and burn” routine. First the surgeon extracted the tumor and surrounding tissue in a lumpectomy. Then I endured a chemotherapy called CMF, a toxic, colorless cocktail of three chemicals: cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, and fluorouracil. Finally, my breast was radiated for six weeks to seal the fate of any remaining cancerous cells lurking within. This article focuses on my experience with chemo.
The most common short-term side effects of chemotherapy include fatigue, hair loss, nausea, mucositis (irritation of the lining of the mouth and intestines), increased risk of infection (due to low white-blood-cell counts), and anemia (due to low red-blood-cell counts).
I didn’t experience all of these side effects. My hair thinned, but did not disappear. My blood-cell counts decreased, but not so much that I couldn’t take a cross-country two-week vacation. I didn’t suffer any infections during the entire three months of chemo treatment. Continue reading ‘Information on Breast Cancer – The Tale of Three Chemos’ »

Breast Cancer affects many women all over the world. It is a terrible disease that can cause death. Funding for research for a cure is not a cheap venture. If you want to help the cause, you do not have to donate a lot of money if you cannot afford it. Instead, you can simply buy inexpensive breast cancer bracelets.
Breast cancer bracelets come in different styles and prices. The traditional pink rubber ones that have messages on them can be bought for around two dollars. On them, they have words and messages like these; hope for a cure, detection, strength and hope, faith, and survivor. These words are inspirational and symbolic of the people who have survived it and those who are suffering from it.
Pink ribbon bracelets are very popular. The pink ribbon is the symbol for breast cancer awareness as is the color pink. A lot of bracelets have the pink ribbon design on them. When you wear one of these, people will know right away the message behind the symbol. Breast cancer awareness does have a specific month in the year, but these can be worn any time, all year round to show support, thought, and care. It is important to know that FDA today unanimously recommended that Avastin should no longer be used to treat Breast Cancer, saying that the risks of the drug far outweighed any benefits. The recommendation was made after an attack by officials from the agency’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research on Genentech’s plan for a new confirmatory study.
Genentech’s proposed study of Avastin (bevacizumab) in combination with paclitaxel in first-line metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) does not justify continued approval of the indication because the trial is unlikely to substantiate the magnitude of progression-free survival benefit seen in the E2100 trial and there are multiple factors that could delay the new study’s completion, said the director of the division of biologic oncology products, Dr. Patricia Keegan.

Inflammatory breast cancer is a rare cancer that happens in a very small percentage of women. It is an aggressive type of locally advanced cancer.
In general, women with this disease are diagnosed at a younger age. In extremely rare circumstances, this form of breast cancer is diagnosed in men. It usually develops as a sheet rather than a lump.
Symptoms of inflammatory breast cancer include:
Breast becomes red, purple, pink or bruised;
Breast becomes firm and enlarged;
A warm feeling in the breast;
Itching of the breast; Continue reading ‘Information on Inflammatory Breast Cancer’ »
